Water is a privilege. It can be difficult to envision a world without water. Everyone is entitled to human rights, which promotes health, safety, sufficiency, affordability, and usability. States are obligated by law to take individual needs into account in order to implement constructive measures that allow people to enjoy their right to water. I can walk to the sink and turn on the tap to fill up my cup with water. I can drink it slowly or quickly. No drop left wasted in the cup. I can go for a swim and let the cool water sweep through my clothes, allowing my body to drift away while listening to strangers' drama. I've become blind to the tangent calls that are left on voicemail and never listened to.

                              Empty alliances

are nothing but faded words on a page
whoever controls water controls the people

Water is political. Water is becoming more of an unreliable resource as droughts and floods become more prevalent. Because of their power and influence, elected officials are able to manage and amend the laws. In increasingly developed sections of the world, water has become a national concern. Citizens' needs are met with disparity rather than concern. When agreements fail to match, tensions rise. These legislators may effectively weaponize water as a form of control and a threat to society.

Water scarcity has a violent impact on domestic, industrial, and environmental applications.
Farmers need water to continue producing food.
Water scarcity in the soil has an impact on the yield of crops and livestock.
Water constraints force farmers to make economic decisions, abandon their farms, or grow crops that use less water.

                 Stuck

Have not a place to go

             Trying to move

             but i’m
afraid

      to breaking the connection

             so I stay here

                 silent

       In my designated place

                waiting

forever waiting

Back, back

take me back

Back to when things weren’t good but okay

Back to when I was a child running in the sunset field

Back to when I was blissfully ignored and disregarded

Unable to return to the past

Look at the world around you

See the flood of the water

Understand the devastation

Unable to return to the past

Our future is in the palm of yours

People all throughout the world are dealing with some type of a severe water crisis.
This can happen to anyone; it is not safe to delude ourselves about the shortcomings of others and believe we cannot put ourselves in their place. For example, in the occupied state of Palestine, more than 1.5 million people are undergoing a genocide. Palestinians have historically struggled to access clean water. This leaves them destitute and isolated, imploring the world to deliver them basic humanitarian aid such as water. This forces them to fend for other objects to collect water, which is illegal and results in their death, or to use unsafe sources that are extremely salted and filthy. This genocide has had profound and critical consequences. How does anyone benefit from witnessing others suffer?
